Ubud Highlights
Rice terraces, a holy spring temple, the Monkey Forest and Ubud Palace in one easy day.
Climb an active volcano in the dark and watch the sun rise over Mount Agung and Lake Batur.
Mount Batur (1,717 m) is an active volcano and the most rewarding sunrise in Bali. You start walking by torchlight around 4 am with a licensed local trekking guide and reach the top in time to watch the sky turn gold behind Mount Agung.
Breakfast is cooked at the summit in the volcano's own steam. On the way down, add a soak in natural hot springs before your driver takes you home.
Times are a guide. It's your private day, so we can move things around.
Sleep in the car on the way up. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the start.
Torches on. Your licensed Batur guide sets a pace that suits your group.
Breakfast, hot tea and the view. On clear days you see Agung, Abang and Rinjani on Lombok.
Walk around the crater rim and down through the old lava fields.
Relax in warm volcanic water beside Lake Batur.
Time for a well-earned nap.
Fitness: the trail is steep and sandy near the top. It suits anyone of average fitness. Tell us about any health concerns and we will advise honestly.
Sunrise views are never guaranteed on a volcano. Mornings are usually clearest in the dry season (April to October). Your guide watches the weather and tells you the night before if conditions look poor.
Yes. A 4x4 jeep can take you to a sunrise viewpoint instead of walking. Ask us on WhatsApp for the price.
